Logistics

The documents every food export shipment needs

28 August 2026 · 4 min read

Missing paperwork is the most common reason shipments get delayed at the port. Here is the checklist we work from.

Requirements differ by destination country, so always confirm with your customs agent. These are the documents most food shipments rely on.

  • Commercial invoice: the price and description of the goods.
  • Packing list: what is in each carton and pallet, with weights.
  • Bill of lading or air waybill: the transport contract and proof of shipment.
  • Certificate of origin: confirms the goods come from Egypt.
  • Phytosanitary certificate: confirms fresh plant products meet plant health rules.

Check before the goods ship

Names, quantities and product descriptions must match across every document. A small mismatch can hold a container for days, so we compare all papers before departure.
